Please, don’t even think about buying the Baby Kids Playpen 8 Panel Play Center Safety Yard Pen before you’ve read what I have to say. If you’re like me, then you love your kids – you don’t want something bad to happen to them.
As parents, it’s our natural instinct to watch out for our children. I keep this same attitude when I look for products to buy for my kids. As I’ve said before, safety is extremely important to me, and if you’re like most parents, then safety is probably very important to you as well. However, I still want my kids to have a good time. I don’t want to buy them a playpen that is extremely safe but too boring for them to have fun.
The Baby Kids Playpen 8
This playpen is a bit more colorful than some of the other products on the market. It’s for children ages 4 and up, and its color choices would seem to vouch for that. Unlike some of the other playpens that resemble a crib, this product really looks like a playpen. It has swinging hinged doors and safety locks.
The safety locks are important because they prevent your children from escaping when they’re not supposed to! This playpen is big enough for a couple of children but not much more.
You know – what I really like about this playpen, as opposed to some of the other choices, is that you can adjust its shape. The way it’s designed makes it easy to adjust the playpen into the shape of a square, circle or whatever shape you can think of.
A quick look at the gate’s locking mechanism reveals some potential issues. If you have some smart children, there is a chance they just MIGHT be able to undo this locking mechanism, which could be bad. However, I wouldn’t say that what could be a minor issue completely turns me off from this playpen because I really do think it has potential.
The Features
I like that that playpen has some of the features that some of us had as kids. It has your typical play telephone, so your kids can make those all-important phone calls, and ball spinners. You can add or remove panels to increase or decrease the playpen’s total size.
The manufacturer says it can encourage mobility for your child, so that’s great. You get a total of 8 panels, so you can mix and match them however you please. Not too shabby for the price. I like the fact that my child isn’t going to look like an animal inside of this playpen.
It also has suction cups on the bottom, so if you have hardwood floors, the suction cups increase stability. In the end, what I care about most is safety. For this playpen, I would say safety is pretty good. The locking mechanism should work well for all but the smartest children.
It’s in a price range that most parents should be able to afford, but if you’re looking for something with fewer bells and whistles, I would go with the Graco Pack ‘N Play Playard. On websites like Amazon, this playpen has a few hundred reviews and a 4.5-star rating. Also, keep in mind that it’s the jbw-8 model.
If you buy this playpen, you might want to also buy a good-sized mat. The majority of reviews for this playpen are 5-star, but it does appear that some people have had some issues with it, in comparison to some of the other playpens available. Overall, I think this playpen is worth the money and seems safe enough. For children ages 4+.
However, if you choose to buy this playpen, be sure to check the dimensions to see if they fit the space you have available for it.
